ModBox Optical Reference Transmitter

The Optical Reference Transmitter ModBoxes are a flexible and efficient Electrical to Optical converter. They cover all the existing Telecom digital and linear modulations schemes such as NRZ w and w/o impairments, DPSK, QPSK, QAM, PAM-4 up to 56 G.

iXblue is the pioneer in Optical Reference Transmitter solutions at 850 nm, 1064 nm, O-Band and C-Band.

These ModBoxes address the Telecom market and this makes them the ideal Optical Transmitter for robust, reliable, compliant with IEEE norms high-speed test solutions for the next-generation telecommunications, Datacom, Long-Haul and other optical interfaces.

The ModBox-PAM4 serie is a 4-level Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM4) Optical Reference Transmitters that generate excellent quality PAM4 optical data streams up to 28 Gbaud, 56 GBaud. The PAM4 ModBox is a highly linear optical transmitter featuring Very High Quality and Robust Eye Diagrams coming with low jitter and really fast rise and fall times. The ModBox also provides vertical eye closure capability and Variable Extinction Ratio.

The ModBox-NRZ is a family of Reference Transmitters that generates excellent quality NRZ optical data streams up to 28 Gb/s, 44 Gb/s, 50 Gb/s at 850nm, in the full O-band, C-band, and at 1310 nm & 1550 nm. These transmitters produce very clean eye diagrams with high SNR and fast rise and fall times. They also provide the flexibility of adjusting the extinction ratio for vertical eye closure (VER option).

The ModBox-CBand-DPSK is an optical modulation unit that generates high performance DPSK optical data streams up to 28 Gb/s. The equipment incorporates a LiNb03 Mach-Zehnder modulator, coupled with a high performance RF driver and an automatic bias control circuitry. It can also receive a laser source, a receiver stage based on a delay line interferometer and balanced detector.

The high bandwidth and low harmonic distorsion of the ModBox-IQ allows to generate particularly clean QAM and OFDM optical signals thanks to the high linearity of its internal components. The ModBox-IQ integrates a high bandwidth dual Mach-Zehnder modulator and high speed RF drivers capable of dealing with data rates up to 32 Gbaud.

The ModBox-CBand-10Gb/s-MultiFormats is a versatile and flexible Electrical to Optical converter to10 Gb/s NRZ, RZ, CS-RZ, NRZ-DPSK, RZ-DPSK and CS-RZ-DPSK optical data streams. I covers the bit rates from a 5 GHz / 10 GHz customer supplied clock signal and a 10 Gb/s NRZ data stream properly pre-encoded. For NRZ duo binary generation, the carver modulator is just bypassed and only the RF NRZ pre-encoded signal is necessary.
