ModBox Analog Optical Transmitter

The Analog Optical Transmitters are optical modulation units based on wide bandwidth and linear LiNbO3 modulator associated with a low RIN laser. The RF amplifier can be optional if the ModBox is used in combination with an electrical VNA to measure S-parameters in full 2-port calibration. These ModBoxes are available in the telecom C and O bands up to 65 GHz, and custom versions can be delivered in the Near Infra-Red window with modulation bandwidth up to 40 GHz.

A set of several Standard ModBox units are already available, please refer to the data-sheet ModBox link below. If your ModBox product is not existing, a customized and dedicate solution can be assembled for you.

The ModBox-AN is a Modulation Unit dedicated to analog modulation and operating in the C-Band and O-Band. The unit generates an analog optical signal from an integrated low RIN laser source and a modulation signal generated for instance by a RF synthesizer, or a signal coming from a RF antenna.

The ModBox-CSSSB is a tunable frequency shifter based on a Lithium Niobate IQ Modulator. This system generates single side band carrier suppress spectrum up to 15 GHz in the C-Band optical window. The peak- power of the shifted harmonic is 35 dB larger than the other spectral bands. The modulation frequency directly sets the Single Side Band frequency position, allowing for a virtually zero frequency resolution.
