2 µm area is becoming of great interest for several defense (laser-based weapon and counter-measure) and medical applications. As the output power of these lasers are increasing, the Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) used as mirrors in fiber lasers are becoming a critical component that could become the limiting factor as 2 µm FBG are known to heat up quickly while pump/signal power is going up.
To reduce these limitations, iXblue has developed a new manufacturing process to decrease the thermal slope by a factor of 10 versus standard FBGs.
